DONNA KARAN’s new DKNY fragrance, My NY, is inspired by the people of New York, but that didn’t stop the designer from choosing Kosovo-born, UK-raised Rita Ora as the scent’s face.
“If Rita can’t sell it, I don’t know who can,” she said of the singer, who splits her time between London and New York. “I think Rita’s a great representative of DKNY. She’s full of life, she’s about what everyone wants to feel – energy. And I find her ageless. She’s like this Energizer Bunny who can wear anything from track shoes to stilettos, DKNY to Donna Karan. I love the girl as a person, too. She walks the talk.”
Fortunately Ora is equally as fond of Karan, who she has worked with previously on DKNY ready-to-wear campaigns. The brand’s collaboration with her good friend Cara Delevingne on a capsule fashion collection was also announced this week.
“Donna’s a very powerful and confident woman,” Ora told WWD. “She comes across as very strong, and that’s what I love about her line. It’s a very confident, energetic line and it’s about women who speak their minds. The fragrance celebrates New York City, which is unlike anywhere else in the world. I love the idea of being part of a campaign that captures the spirit of New York and the stories of women here, passionate about their dreams.”
The new fragrance DKNY MY NY was developed by Trudi Loren (senior vice-president for perfume development at Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. in collaboration with IFF. Top notes of the composition provide a blend of raspberry, pink pepper and galbanum, followed by Egyptian jasmine, freesia and orris in the heart. The base encompasses patchouli Heart LMR, vanilla absolute, musk and ambergris.
The fragrance arrives as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette along with perfumed shower gel, body lotion and rollerball. The advertising campaign and micro website dedicated to the new perfume will be launched on August 19, 2014, as Diane Kim, senior vice-president for marketing at Aramis & Designer Fragrances.

Elizabeth Arden has launched Untold Absolu, a new variation on 2013’s Untold fragrance for women. Untold Absolu follows Untold Eau Légère, which launched earlier this year.
The fragrant collection Untold was initiated with the original edition Untold from 2013, which will stand with the classics of the house: franchises Red Door and Fifth Avenue. The first edition of the collection was signed by Clement Gavarry providing a composition which would suggest several different aspects of a woman’s life. The successful first perfume Untold was succeeded by the livelier and lighter version Untold Eau Legere, also created by perufmer Clement Gavarry.
Similarly to Untold, Untold Absolu has been designed to reveal the many aspects of a woman, presenting those special instances when she is really at comfort, revealing her unique temperament and simple classiness. A progressively lavish floral effusion, Untold Absolu intensifies her dazzling passion, mystery and pure beauty.
Untold Absolu includes an entirely new luxurious blend of floral absolutes that perform in harmony with the gentle and attractive base notes present in the classic UNTOLD. The finest quality ingredients are meticulously chosen and combined to capture a new bright golden shaded reflection of Untold by featuring luscious red plum and black raspberry accents with the magnetic amber base.
Russian model Olga Kaboulova is face of Elizabeth Arden’s new Untold Absolu fragrance campaign.

The new limited-edition fragrance from Korloff Private Collection takes no account of borders with its elegance and modernity.
Jewelry brand Korloff launched the first fragrance of its Private collection: Black Vetiver Korloff Private. Black is the favorite color of the Korloff house. Therefore, the color in the perfume name was a foregone conclusion.
Black Vetiver Korloff Private could be seen as a development of the Korloff Noir for men (2010) idea: it goes through all bases—from citrus and spices, through the iris and incense, to a woody musk with vetiver in the drydown. The difference is the colors: when the latter fumes soft black smoke, the former remains gray morning fog in the citrus grove. Where the latter becomes greasy beef broth peppered by freshly-ground tingling black pepper, the former pounds pepper with white tears of incense and cardamom pods in a cedarwood mortar. And of course, both share orris butter. It smells like Black Vetiver Korloff Private’s concept has been built around orris, which flies and reigns until it passes the crown to musks, Iso E Super and Ambroxan.
In the perfume the vetiver note has lost all its natural shades of green, yellow, sienna and brown to become cinematic gray, urban and built for business. This can upset natural perfume lovers, but for urban men the neutral woody perfume is a good all-day Muzak background. It’s not built for the sake of beauty—beauty is not necessary for a businessman!—but to express calmness, a constant rhythm, life without much news and, God forbid, no bad news.
Long-term stability or “live fast and die young?” Each will make the choice himself. In the case of Black Vetiver Korloff Private your choice is stability and permanence. Life can be boring sometimes, but it pays to be a man of dignity and unbending principles.
|Top Notes:||Bergamot, Cardamom, Pepper|
|Heart Notes:||Iris butter, Frankincense|
|Base Notes:||Woody amber, Vetiver, Musk|
Bursting with vitality, Paul Smith releases Extreme Sport, a fresh take on his popular Extreme fragrance.
A dynamic scent set to help you spring into summer, Paul enlisted the help of four extreme sport superstars to highlight the action-packed notes of the fragrance.
Extreme Sport is a fresh and energizing fragrance by Paul Smith, full of enthusiasm, providing a bunch of positive energy to each person, not just to sportsmen. Sport as the theme of the edition includes enthusiasm, hard work and striving for excellent results, as well as the combination and balance of mental and physical strength of each sportsman.
If there was any man in the fashion industry with the real credentials to launch a sports-inspired fragrance, it’s Paul Smith. Not only is the man an avid cyclist (he can frequently be spotted biking across Paris when he’s in town for his catwalk shows) who has previously designed jerseys for the Giro d’Italia race, but he also has Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish on his speed dial. Come to think of it, we’re a little surprised that it’s taken until now for the designer to launch Paul Smith Extreme Sport – a fresh take on his 2003 classic Paul Smith Extreme.
It might have taken 11 years but, frankly, it’s been worth the wait. The key to its success is that it takes the central ingredients that made the original juice famous – citrusy bergamot, flowery geranium and warming Venezuelan tonka bean – and mixes it up by adding in fresh splashes of Moroccan mint, grapefruit and spicy black pepper.
Don’t be fooled by its lightness when you first spray it, this fragrance is in it for the long-run: as you wear it you’ll find all that citrusy, minty-ness burns off to leave behind a rich, warm – but not heavy – scent on the skin thanks to its notes of incense and cedar wood. Even if your most strenuous sporting activity is running for the bus in the morning, we suggest you get in the game.
The latest fragrance of the collection Paul Smith Extreme Sport takes the shape of previous editions, repeating the design of flacon made of glass with smooth surfaces and modern stripes on the sides of the flacons. A simple design and a dynamic combination of blue and strong green with stripes in blue, yellow and green are crowned with a transparent cap. The box and the bottle features an illustration of a stop-watch, reminding us symbolically that time plays an important role in life and should be used wisely, particularly on the occasion of sports competitions where the smallest parts of a second are crucial for winning the game …
|Top Notes:||Orange essence, Bergamot, Moroccan spearmint|
|Heart Notes:||Egyptian geranium, Lavender, Madagascan black pepper|
|Base Notes:||Frankincense, Cedarwood, Tonka bean|
Good news for anyone who looks at their bathroom countertop and feels like she doesn’t already have enough half empty lotions and perfume bottles cluttering it: Katy Perry has another one in the works to add to your collection.
That’s right, KatyCats. She’s hitting a new sweet-smelling note with her fifth fragrance, Royal Revolution. She announced on Instagram that the follow-up to last year’s Killer Queen is getting a “sassy sapphire sister,” which is set to come to a perfume counter near you this July. It will be available in four different sizes and will be sold in 20,000 department stores and perfumeries.
The new fragrance, set to be released in July, follows the fragrances Killer Queen Oh So Sheer, Killer Queen, Meow! and Purr.
Killer Queen’s Royal Revolution is lighter and “a bit more spirited” than Killer Queen, Coty Beauty Fragrances global marketing vice president Marsha Brooks told WWD.
“This fragrance is about female empowerment and breaking the rules,” Brooks said. “[It’s] very much what Katy is all about.”
Katy hinted that a nail line may be coming soon in a scent workshop held to launch Royal Revolution on Friday.
“[The fragrances] take up a lot of time, but they’re a very pleasurable experience. They’re very creative, it’s not like I just get handed something. We all kind of dream this up together,” Katy told WWD.
“I’ve always wanted to venture into nails, but…it hasn’t worked out just right just yet,” she added.
“But I love to show my personality off, whether it’s in the lip color or nail bed. It’s just like, God is in the details, so I like the little things to be detailed.”
So, what exactly will this pop princess’ scent smell like?
Katy Perry Royal Revolution is inspired by the beauty and strength of a precious Blue Diamond. This Killer Queen is destined to lead a Royal Revolution; a Royal with the scent of victory, a new sensibility, a wild way of holding court with rebellion on her mind and defiance on her playful lips.
Royal Revolution arrives on the market in a blue bottle. It is an irresistible floral fragrance inspired by the beauty of blue diamond.
The composition is floral and slightly fruity. The top notes include aromas of red pomegranate and pink freesia. Jasmine and orange flower are enriched with sandalwood in the heart, while the base includes unusually mystical notes of blackthorn with addition of vanilla orchid, leather and skin musk.

Fendi launches a new women’s fragrance called Furiosa, which means “furious” and “feisty” in Italian. The perfume comes out on the market in September 2014, done under the umbrella of LMVH company, and its launch is supposed to strengthen the position and identity of the Fendi brand when it comes to perfumery. Furiosa is announced with the slogan: “The Essence of Wild Femininity.”
Four years after the release of the popular Fan Di Fendi collection with a couple of exciting seasonal releases such as Fan Di Fendi Blossom, Fan Di Fendi Leather Essence, Fan Di Fendi Eau Fraiche and following last year’s entirely new elegantly sophisticated Acquarossa today we have Furiosa fragrance.
Furiosa will be fronted by model Kasia Smutniak. The fragrance division of the house worked for over three and a half years for the new creation, a vigorous and fascinating project, justifying the selection of the name “Furious”. The olfactory creation of passionate Calabrian bergamot, intensely warm amber and seething wallflowers are the notes for the new fragrance created by François Demachy director and master perfumer of the house.
The bottle and packaging were created by jewelry designer Delfina Delettrez, who is in the fourth generation of family Fendi.
Top notes: bergamot
American beauty and perfume label Clinique of the Estée Lauder cos., which is admittedly all about a classic vision of pharmaceutical-chic and Yankee taste for clean – although they boast of the alluring chypre Aromatics Elixir in their fragrant stables – are opening a new chapter in their history with their latest fragrance called Beyond Rose…
Rose as you have never known it… sheer layers that build into an intense experience, with hints of amber and a shock of pepper.
This scent owes nothing to the past except the certain knowledge that fragrance is seductive. Modern, clean, sophisticated and worldly, it’s fragrance for today and the future.
Fragrance Clinique Beyond Rose provides an extremely seductive composition. Rose as the key note of the fragrance will offer countless layers, from soft and gentle ones, silky shades of petals, to the dark and velvety essence of the flower. Its beauty is elevated by warm and cuddly amber, which adds resin-like sweetness and depth to the composition. An interesting twist comes from pepper, which provides an unforgettable trail thanks to its fine sweetness and gentle tartness, and gives the signature to the new Clinique perfume. The fragrance contains scents of white pepper, rose oil and rose absolute, freesia flowers, osmanthus blossom, mate leaves, warmed and deepened by amber, labdanum, styrax and benzoin.
Following the concept of exploring new themes the bottle similarly takes on an entirely different style when looking at past creations from Clinique and matches the theme of the oriental aroma with an ornamental design consisting of intertwined flowing lines covering the entire surface of the tall bottle.
|Top Notes:||White pepper, Freesia, Mate leaf|
|Heart Notes:||Rose absolute, Rose oil, Osmanthus, Storax|
|Base Notes:||Labdanum, Amber, Benzoin|
Yves Saint Laurent will launch Black Opium in September. The most famous perfume from designer Yves Saint Laurent can be considered Opium. The original Opium was launched back in 1977 as a lavish and potent spicy oriental. Its modern edition presented in a new bottle was launched 2009. Among the more recent interpretations, it is important to mention its younger successor Belle d’ Opium from 2010, as well as lovely Opium Vapeurs de Parfum from 2012.
The new fragrance announced as a rock ‘n’ roll interpretation of the classic that should highlight the dark, mysterious side of the YSL brand. Master perfumers Nathalie Lorson and Marie Salamagne, in collaboration with Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc, developed the composition. Notes of coffee, present in large quantities, dominate the scent. Additional accords are pink pepper, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli and cedar.
The muse that will stand for the new fragrance Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent is British top model Edie Campbell. The brand was inspired by Edie’s chameleon like beauty, requirements responding to all contemporary ladies, with the fashion of Yves Saint Laurent Beauty. For this she was chosen for her stylish, cultured appearance, a model with originality that has become a beauty image for an entire generation.
The perfume comes in a bottle designed as the last editions of the Opium collection. The bottle is dark and decorated with sequins that give a glam rock look.Black Opium is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

A*Men Pure Wood, shaped like a man.
Thierry Mugler announces A * Men Pure Wood, a new limited edition of its most popular men’s fragrance A * Men from 1996, which will be released in June of 2014. The fragrance announcement promises: “The untamed energy of nature collides with the refinement of A*Men. A wild encounter, for connoisseurs only … A*Men Pure Wood, bold seduction.“
A*Men Pure Wood, strong as the strongest tree, shaped as a man.
This year, Thierry Mugler launches A*Men Pure Wood. In this chapter, the A*Men fragrance reveals itself with its wood facet. This facet is probably the key for the A*Men olfactory structure as it shapes, designs and edges the A*Men signature. Notes like Oak and the explosive Patchouli, gave a strong and charismatic aspect to this rich and voluptuous fragrance.
The composition is described as an oriental-woody with a distinctive note of coffee. It is made of oak notes, coffee, vanilla, patchouli and cypress.
The iconic A*men flacon was designed to look like wood. The bright glass star reveals an intense sparkling amber fragrance as a concentrate of pure energy. The fragrance will be launched in July this year in all official Thierry Mugler point of sales. For the moment there is not much on Thierry Mugler’s official website, a part of the count-down until the launch.
Here is the teaser video published by Thierry Mugler this month in order to announce the launch of this new fragrance.
